Project Accessory Episode 1

Wow or wow, how exciting to see a major network legitimize the accessory industry with a reality contest, teaching the world what we designers do everyday! Project Accessory is here! I was most curious about the format they would be using and well it looks like for the most part they are going with tried and true. The challenges and showing the work via runway show are very much like Project Runway. For this first challenge all the designers were given a plan white t-shirt and a pair of jeans to spice up. The 12 contestants were asked to make a necklace, belt and one additional accessory of their choice. Easy breezy right? The twist was that they had to raid a storage locker for the supplies. Very interesting to see them turn junk into jewelry. Immediate I thought, "wow, I was born for this show!" I've been up-scaling junk my whole life! Give me 20 minutes on Halloween and I will give you a costume winner. I'm sure this all this seems so easy from home when the pressure is not on but I sure can't wait to give it go. So this week sometime I will be raiding a storage locker for some random supplies and creating my own necklace, belt and plus one accessory. Lucky for me my folks own a storage facility so finding a locker to raid will be cake. Oy vey, I've cleaned a few of those out with them in my time and I'm worried they won't have as much to work with as the ones on the show did. I hope I don't have to use literal trash for the challenge.

Here's my thoughts on some of the looks that came down the Runway: Worst by far was James' look, I can't believe he didn't go home for that? It looked like some of the things I made in grade school. I actually met James briefly when I auditioned in Chicago and I have to tell you I was shocked. At auditions, I knew he was a slam dunk for the show. He seemed so confidant and had the ere of sophistication about him. His work was very impressive as well. Course he was surrounded by an entourage of beautiful ladies that said he was their instructor and were all singing his praises. Who wouldn't be confidant in those conditions? One the show he seems very unsure of himself. His work examples were all shoes and handbags, leather work for the most part. I couldn't believe he said he had never made a necklace. OMG, you just auditioned for Project Accessory, it went well, they might call you- Go find a jeweler and learn a thing or two! I think he might be in trouble if he's got tunnel vision for his type of work only and fails everywhere else. I'm sure he'll stick around a next week since it appears there are having a shoe challenge but I wouldn't expect much longer. You suppose the next week was shoes when the judges were deciding on the who goes? Poor Cotrice, I felt bad that she went home for doing too much. You know it's always go to suck to go home first. She did make a chandler necklace out of a chandler though, too expected I guess but good grief it looked better than the weird shell/rose popcorn growth James sent out to be judged! My top 2 picks were the same as the judges I loved Diego total look and was so impressed with the construction of the bag, Nina's look was so now and next, good job judges, what a sweet girl she seems to be too right? Although I hated the 3 look in the top 3 from Brian. I agree with Nicolina, it did look like vomit in my opinion but her's was close second to vomit, maybe a little throw up in your mouth action. She buckled under pressure for certain. Ok rock and roll groupie, who cares if a few rockers you partied with 15 years ago wear your leather crap what can you do now and here? I sure hope she steps it up to prove she deserved to be saved next week. At least Cotrice put effort into her work, overdone and expected or not. As far as Eva Lorenzotti as the mentor, hmm... I'll have to watch and see. So far I didn't see much actual mentoring going on, she's no Tim Gunn that's for sure.
